If you’re not a student of SU in order to borrow books and other library resources you’re required to have a “texture card” which can simply be obtained at the Georgetown Public Library. The library houses a vast collections of more than 390,000 books and media items. So whether you’re looking to educate yourself, do research or just browse, Southwestern library (A. The Southwestern Fountainwood Observatory has a scheduled “yoga under the stars” event, that’s open to the public among other star gazing events throughout the year which could be fun as a date with a loved one, friend or by yourself among the community.
Southwestern university is one of 113 schools in the nation that were named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service honor roll. Southwestern students have been integrating themselves among the young teens of Georgetown in fun engaging activities. And through the school’s “BIG EVENT” day, Southwestern encourages the students, faculty, staff, and alumni to be a part of and spend a day volunteering with the local nonprofits and Georgetown community partners.

Southwestern’s Community Garden is open over the summer to the Georgetown community during the garden sessions on specified days. Absolutely no past experience is needed! Just bring a pair of close toed shoes and water and you can enjoy the lovely outdoors of South Western’s campus while working and learning with fellows of the community. Sessions are on Thursdays 6-8 pm and Saturdays 9-11 am unless otherwise noted.
