Picking The Right Realtor for You

In Texas’ busy real estate market, it’s likely that you may know a realtor or two in your circle of friends and family. On average, a typical realtor will typically close around 8-10 sales over the course of a year. At Russ Phillips Team, we close over 150. It’s similar to, say you need a good surgeon. You’ll want to choose the doctor who does 20 procedures a week so you have the best chance at the best outcome.

Realtors Matter

Of course realtors matter. Trying to navigate the various steps and contract dealings of buying or selling your home without that specialized help is basically impossible. However, that doesn’t mean that just any realtor will do. Just like you don’t shop garage sales for a specific pan, you shouldn’t just pick a realtor out of a hat (or a grab bag internet search) and hope they will do a good job at selling your home or guiding your property search. Instead, it’s important to do a bit of research to pick the right Austin-area realtor based on your buying and selling needs. Realtors can also save you time in the home search, a good agent will help you find the perfect home even faster than the popular search engines.

Ask Questions

When it comes to picking which realtor to work with, it’s perfectly acceptable to ask questions - in fact, we’d be worried if you didn’t! Getting to know a potential realtor is the best way to see if they are a right fit for you. At the Russ Phillips Team, we want you to know we’re the right match for you. Think of us like that seasoned specialist whom you’d trust with your health and physical mobility. Come meet with one of our team, ask questions, and make sure we are the right fit for your real estate needs. If you’re unsure where to start, we suggest the following:

  • What hours do you work? - Some realtors keep their work time limited to traditional 9 to 5 hours while others prefer to work primarily on weekends. When picking a realtor, it’s important to find one who will be available when you need them.

  • What price range do you work with and what were a few of your recent sales? - Understand the price ranges and geographic areas of expertise whether high-end or starter home in Georgetown, Leander, Round Rock, Austin-area. Asking this question will give you a better idea of how that realtor works and whether they are the right fit for your buying and selling needs.

  • How do you communicate, and how frequently? - This can be a big deal. If you’re rarely available via phone and prefer email or texting, a realtor who only calls can mean you miss a lot of calls and important information, which can set back your whole property search process and lead to frustration.

When you’re looking for a realtor in the greater Austin area, it’s important to find one who will guide you through the metaphorical specialty stores rather than take a garage sale approach. At the Russ Phillips Team, we pride ourselves on providing specialized real estate services for all our clients. Call us today to see if we’re a good match for you!
