Fall is officially here! While Central Texas may not be experiencing the crisp fall temperatures that some parts of the country get, the weather is finally cooling down, which means it’s time to get outside and enjoy it! It may not be cold enough for a scarf, but that doesn’t change the fact that the time has come for farmer’s markets, pumpkin patch fun, holiday preparations, and pumpkin spice flavored everything. Fall festivities abound here in Georgetown, and it’s these fun events that remind us why living at the edge of town is amazing. With Halloween right around the corner, there are plenty of upcoming events that make our fair city an amazing community to be a part of. Here are a few of the fun events coming up for those who live in and near Georgetown:

 

Farmer’s Markets

Grab farm-fresh produce and locally raised meat. Not only is it more sustainable to support local farms and ranches, but the food inevitably tastes better! Georgetown offers farmers markets every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday so you can feed your family well.

 

Halloween Fun

Between the Boo Bash on the Square, the Georgetown Halloween Festival and Hayride, downtown Georgetown ghost tours, and the Nightmare on Jail Hill haunted house, there are plenty of family-friendly options to get you in a spooky mood as Halloween approaches.

 

Have Fun While Giving Back

Giving back to our community is just as important as having fun. With events like the Halloween pub run and toy drive, you can give back and have fun at the same time! Bring an unwrapped toy for Georgetown Blue Santa, run if you want, and grab a drink or two.

 

First Fridays

Come support local merchants. On the first Friday of every month, come down to Georgetown Square to explore galleries and shops, enjoy live music, and get to know our local community better.

 

Cattleman’s Ball

Who doesn’t love a beautifully cooked steak and an excuse to get dressed up? The annual Cattleman’s Ball is a night of delicious food, drinks, and dancing. Better still, proceeds support the Williamson Museum’s educational programs, so you can help the local community while you enjoy a night out.

 

Lighting of the Square

After Halloween, it’s time to start thinking about those well-loved winter holidays. The day after Thanksgiving, come down to the center of town for the Lighting of the Square. Sing carols, help Santa count down to the lighting, and even fit in a bit of shopping from the merchants open late. Be sure to stick around to get a photo with Santa and kick off the holiday season!

 

The Christmas Stroll

The annual Christmas Stroll is a chance to enjoy music, dancing, and drama performances around the Courthouse Square. The festivities are free, but Blue Santa and Brown Santa will be collecting toy donations, so take this chance to give back.
